Let's dive in:
R-evolution is collaborating with Beneath The Waves, a marine conservation non-profit, to map threatened seagrass meadows in The Bahamas. By leveraging Hexagon's airborne bathymetric LidAR, the area is mapped to centimeter accuracy. This enables the creation of a sustainable business model powered by a voluntary carbon registry to help maintain the seagrass habitat for generations to come.
DID YOU KNOW?
Seagrass habitat is degrading globally at a rate of 7% per year due to coastal development, disruption, and pollution.
Seagrass captures CO₂ 35 times faster than tropical rainforest.
The Bahamas represent the world’s largest nature-based carbon capture area, covering up to 92,000 km2.
